Along that line, I recently learned that the "Van Allen
radiation belts" are called that everywhere except in
Iowa City, where they use the nomenclature:
"radiation belts" :-)

James Van Allen was a Professor at the University of Iowa.
I also noticed that he was Time Magazine's Man of the Year
in 1960.
