Even in the HP5065A the C-field current is a significant part of
the stability.
I worked a lot on that back when I had time for time-nuttery and
wrote a sort of 'work-log' about it:

My conclusion was that it is not trivial to take the C-field current
definitively out of the equation for a HP5065.
