I'm not disputing that Volt-Nuts is a worthwhile Group, only that it is
focused on hobbyist/experimenters of general electronics. The
HP-Agilent-Keysight-Equipment Group, on the other hand, is focused on
acquisition, repair and use of the kind of test equipment that was
originally inquired about by Dave McGuire.

I believe a broader response to the problem reported will be had from
the HP-etc Group.

I am a member of both Groups but I find little activity on the Volt-Nuts
Group, certainly when compared to the HP-etc Group.

I assume Dave inquired first of the Volt-Nuts Group and that he is
unaware and not a member of the HP-etc Group; I felt he should be made
aware of that very active HP-focused Group.

Dave, Volt-Nuts is really the wrong reflector to be effective in
pursuing this question. Far better that you join and ask on the
HP-Agilent-Keysight groups.io Group. The real HP experts reside there
and are better placed to address your question. Look here:

https://groups.io/g/HP-Agilent-Keysight-equipment

This is a very active Group, with many emails about HP equipment
operation and repair every day.

Dave McGuire is a joint *owner *(not just a moderator) of that group!  I
set the group up, and invited Dave to be another owner so that;

a) If I die, the group can continue.
b) With me in the UK, and Dave in the USA, it makes it possible for posts
to be approved.

Well, the funny thing about this is, when people ask 3458A-related
questions on the hp-agilent-keysight-equipment mailing list, we refer
them to volt-nuts! ;)  Similarly, when people pop up asking questions
about 5061s, 5065s, etc we refer them to time-nuts.

All of these are extremely specialized instruments, far more so than
the general HP stuff that we all know, use, and love.  As such, they
usually benefit from more vertical subject matter expertise that can be
found here.  I myself know this from having read the archives here (and
for time-nuts) for many years.
