[time-nuts] Time in Phone System

Hi:

Every phone in my house that has an LCD shows the correct date & time, but I have never set any of them.
I expect that there's date and time information being sent in the header of every phone call, maybe even before the 
first ring along with the Caller ID info.
Where to get technical details on the data format/protocol?
