[time-nuts] DMTD - analog multiplier vs. diode mixer ?

I realize this would not measure frequency or phase difference; but has anyone used a lock-in amplifier to compare two 10 MHz signals -- for example to adjust a rubidium oscillator to agree with a GPS reference?
