This sounds like a fun two-member senior project..
 
Here is another idea: how about subjecting the watch to 32KHz ultrasonic  
sound that beats with, and pulls the tuning fork?
 
Probably not a good idea to subject one's watch to ultrasound all the time,  
but it sure could get clean at the same time when doing this in an  immersion 
bath :)
