The biggest favor you can do for yourself is to learn C.  That gives you
access to wonderful professional-level development tools and a large example
code base for GPIB programming (mine as well as others).

Beyond that, doing things like ADEV graphs is just a matter of plugging in
the formulas from various app notes and/or translating legacy HP-BASIC
programs.
