[time-nuts] OT: Not pendulums or atomic clocks or gravity

I think that in addition to straight compression, some of the kinetic energy of the club is converted to shear potential energy in the ball (because of the angle of the club, and the fact that the club hits the ball below it's CG) and the shear potential energy is released as a torque, which is why the ball spins.

All that physics stuff makes my head spin :-)
