I don't think you should consider that lying.  Cronkite didn't always gather
the news he reported.  If he did, he would have had to be everywhere on the globe
at the same time.  So, like most newscasters, he reported on information that
was given to him by the reporters at the site... Sometimes it was accurate,
but most of the time it had speculation added by a reporter who didn't quite
understand the subject.  [Journalism is not a subject that draws the best and
the brightest students.]

Cronkite's job was to bring the news to Mom and Pop America in a pleasant
way that would assure an audience.
