Some more (possibly irrelevant) information in the DS1620 temperature sensor:  The units that I have checked that give the good temperature curve all have rev D1 DS1620 chips.  The ones with the flat line temperatures all have Rev E2 DS1620 chips.  The chip rev is the last two characters of the middle line on the package...
