[time-nuts] Sound Card Spectrum Analyzer

For Linux (and I think some other *nixes) check out Baudline 
(http://www.baudline.com).  It's free but not open source.  It's a 
general purpose audio spectrum analyzer tool, not aimed at ham radio.
