[time-nuts] Austron 2201a GPS information please

Hello to the group.
I have researched the time-nuts archives and the internet for anything on
this gps receiver.
There has been speculation and comments about the special down converter and
frequency scheme for this vintage of a unit.
Turns out from the threads that the scheme is different. But I have been
able to home brew a converter that does work.
The converter is ugly. 13 DB line amp from my general GPS ant, mini ckt
mixer, used way beyond its intended frequency, post mixer amp and no filter
to the tnc input with dc blocking cap. LO is a HP 8660 locked to 10 MHZ Rb.
(Doesn't get much uglier then this.)
My unit is receiving the satellites now.

That said I am looking for any operational information on the unit. Two
things. Mine is looking for some internal 1 PPS signal. The other thing is
that I believe how you operate this unit is nothing like what we might use
today. Could be a lot more manual intervention. (By the way I have supplied
the ext 5MC and 1 PPS sig it needs and it accepts them and acknowledges
them.)

I might believe what I am seeing is operational error on my part. I do have
a HP 3801 that works fine. But the Austrons quite a nice looking unit.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
