Nit pick: You need more than just a PPS to get time.  You also need something 
else to tell you which second a pulse corresponds to.  Most GPS units come 
with a serial port that does that.


In this context, that doesn't matter since none of the USB GPS units I've 
looked at have a PPS signal.
