[time-nuts] [Off-List] antennas & GPS Splitters

Hi

The HP splitters I have torn into have a few nice features:

1) They have built in RF bandpass filtering on a per output basis. No
re-circulating RFI. Better protection for the GPS receiver input.
2) They will pass DC from one port and correctly DC terminate the other
ports (no antenna missing lights blinking on and off).
3) They have an RF gain block that compensates for the loss of the splitter.
4) The gain block is padded down at each output. You can butcher it to have
gain if you wish on a per port basis.
5) The construction is *massive*. If you drop one, you may break a toe, you
are unlikely to damage the splitter. Ground fault currents are not going to
be an issue.
6) If you get one of the neat ones with external DC supply - it can feed +12
to an "oddball" antenna.

Definitely worth picking up if you don't already have several.

Bob

Hi Mike:

Can you tell me about features of the 58535A?
Connector type, DC pass through, photo?
Total to zip 95482?

Have Fun,
