I showed this to my Dad, it reminded him of a hydrogen filled radar thyratron 
he had to babysit years ago. The start/warmup sequence took 20min and HT 
current was about 40A. OT? Yes, unless you want to precisely switch/time 
insane amounts of power :-). Dad used to look after some HIGH power ground 
radars for the Air Force.
