There are some issues using a Thunderbolt with NTP. See
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/html/drivers/driver29.html (the stuff
about event polling).
Also, you will need http://www.tapr.org/kits_fatpps.html (or something like
it) if you want to use its PPS signal with NTP.
