Easy,  in a precision lab you NEVER turn off the lights.  That causes too big a temperature shift.  In fact,  a warm body is a 100 watt heat source.  That extra heat load can easily affect precision equipment.   And that's why zombie technicians are in such high demand... the undead are always at room temperature.
