The trick is to start a new mail (press "Write" or "Compose") instead
of replying to a mail.

If you press reply the ID of the mail you replied to gets stored in
the mail you write and send. Thus all mail clients that support threads
see your mail as a continuation of the mail you replied to.

Thus the thread "How to start a new topic" became sorted into the old thread
"Sulzer 5A & 5P PSU/battery question", thus did not start a new topic :-)
