I did a quick test using a modified Python script to measure the elapsed
time of several NTP round trips

The script is run on the Atom machine, all of the servers are running
ntpd 4.2.6p5

1.6 GHz Atom, loopback: 8100 req/s
400 MHz MIPS, no FPU (TL-WR703N): 2500 req/s
720 MHz ARM (Beaglebone): 3800 req/s

The R-Pi and the B-Bone should handle hundreds - thousands of
behaving clients.
