The 5370 cooling fan blows across the chassis directly onto the input board.   The switches are basically gold plated strips on springy material that slide on the circuit board.  They are open to the world and not sealed.   Dust and fluff accumulates on the board and into the switches.   You can remove the board and clean everything.  On some boards the switch support frame is bolted down, on others it is riveted which makes doing a thorough cleaning not as effective.
