If it works, don't try to fix it.
In the datasheet

there is no cooling requirement specified.
I would assume that it is usually mounted on a PCB which adds some 
cooling though not terribly much.
After 1 hour the case temperature should be about 45 Deg. C at 25 Deg. 
ambient.
