You need a special antenna to use the down converters.  I've grown to not
like them.  I've had 2 bad down converter base units get the dreaded red
"alarm" light.  My solution is get rid of the antennas and the base units.
Yeah this means replacing the antennas.  I've put together replacement
power supply for one base unit and it eventually failed after I ran a bunch
of new coax cable.  I've come to the conclusion it's time to ditch them.
