Hi.

I Just did a simple Google for "FE-5680A" and found this:-
https://www.hamwan.org/files/FE/FE-5680A%20Technical%20Manual.pdf

Sheet 8:  mentions RS-232 on J1 8 & 9   NOTE!  Though a 9 pin connector,
if it is a "D" shape thing, it is NOT the usual serial port pin-out,
you'll need to make a custom cable to use it.

Anyway...

Try measuring the idling RS232 TX-D output (pin-9) voltage level. If -ve
more than 5V, it's likely a "Real" RS232 port compatible signal level

The Loop Lock output on Pin-3, "Might" be able to be monitored by one of
the Serial Port Handshake lines, on whatever serial port device you use
with your computer, even if it only swings from 0V to some +V level.

Most software can be set to poll or otherwise read the state of the
serial port handshake/status lines, with a bit of effort.

(Take care with the DC input power requirements, dependent on if "Option
25" is fitted, or not.)

Hope that document is relevant to the box you have.

Regards.

Dave G8KBV.
