I measured it, but I used an Ampere meter. I can not remember for sure how much I measures , because some nerve/brain damage I can not remember numbers, but if we have an archive it must be there because I posted it. Somewhere in 2011 I think. The value was within specs. I think it was less then 150 mA at 230V.

On thing that i wondered is why they become so hot. The power consumption is not very high ( compared with an amplifier or so and 40VA is not huge) there are no cooling things like ribs, sinks or fans. 

Good tip about the feet someone gave, mine did not have feet, it was a rack mounted unit, it could be ex belgium militairy. The guy I bought it from sell a lot ex armey stuff and my esi resistors and esi KV devider from him are also belgium army ( they had calibration labels)
