to make device links permanent, config them in /etc/devfs.conf
ex:
# configure ATOM PPS driver on /dev/cuau1
link cuau1 pps1
link cuau1 refclock-1

# configure ONCORE GPS driver on /dev/cuau1
link cuau1 oncore.pps.1
link cuau1 oncore.serial.1 

# configure NMEA driver on /dev/cuau1
link cuau1 gps1
link cuau1 gpspps1
