The standard config for telecom equipment that runs on +24V or -48V is that they have an isolated input DC-DC converter in them. The input voltage goes through a full bridge rectifier that makes them insensitive to input voltage polarity. On the ones that I have played with they worked fine at 24V to.. 48V... YMMV...
